The Department of Information Technology started its journey from the Academic Year 2005-06. It is approved by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) and is affiliated to GTU (Gujarat Technological University, Gandhinagar). The Department is currently having six permanent lecturers recruited through UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) from various parts of the country. The intake capacity is of 60 students. Presently there are one computer lab in the Department and two more computer labs are proposed to be set up. In the year 2020, Department of IT filed and published one Patent titled “System for Monitoring and Control of Surrounding environment and process in Chemical Plants using IoT Sensors” in Intellectual Property India, Office of the Controller General of Patents, Design and Trade Marks, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. The patent application number 202021019732 was filed on 10 of May 2020. Also, three of IT department members contributed in design specification and testing of Central Online Admission Portal for all three Polytechnic of DNH and DD. Under the Guidance of IT faculty members, more than 40 students clears the Google Digital Marketing Certification. IT department students and faculty dedicatedly worked in COVID19 pandemic duration as volunteer. In January 2021, Department of IT conducted an Faculty Development Program on “Professional Skills Development” jointly sponsored by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Gujarat Technological University, Chandkheda, Gujarat.Department of IT, along with department of Electrical Engineering, conducted an Online Faculty Development Program jointly with All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) under AICTE ATAL- FDP on “IoT for Smart City” from 13th to 17th September 2021. Also, recently one Paper Titled “Image Classification Using High-Performance Convolutional Neural Networks” was presented successfully in National Conference RACE-2021organized by Department of Computer Engineering,MESCOE inassociation with CSI Pune Chapter on in 2021.
